KEY FEATURES
Composition sets the electrode's life
Conductivity and arc resistance are traded against each other.
The higher the tungsten proportion, the better it withstands the arc; the more copper, the better it conducts.
Arc and wear resistance
Arc Resistance
The tungsten skeleton withstands the arc heat, reducing electrode wear and distortion.
High electrical conductivity
Electrical Conductivity
The infiltrated copper carries the current and lowers heating. Conductivity is set through the composition.
Dimensional stability
Dimensional Stability
The geometry holds through repeated current cycles, keeping weld quality and discharge gap consistent.
Character by composition
Tungsten proportion %. The higher the figure, the better it withstands the arc and the lower the conductivity.
Why compositions differ
In the same electrode, a welder needs conductivity first; a switchgear contact needs arc resistance first.
Surface after machining
A rough contact face produces local arcing and faster wear. The polishing grade is set alongside.

DESIGN PRECISION
Composition set to the service conditions
In an electrode, composition and geometry are what distinguish the product.
In the same geometry, changing the composition changes the electrode life and the heating.
Composition choice
The tungsten proportion is set in light of the current and arc conditions.
Machined geometry
Tip angle and contact face are machined as drawn.
Surface condition
The grade is raised to reduce contact resistance and wear.
We do not pick a specification, we develop it with you. (Give us the current and arc conditions and the mounting specification, and we will work out the composition with you.)

LEAD TIME
Fabrication and Lead Time
This product is made to your drawing. Here is the process, step by step.
STEP 01
Drawing received
Send us the electrode geometry, tungsten content, end angle and service current.
Reply within 1 daySTEP 02
Specification review
We review the composition and machining method and propose a surface roughness.
2 – 4 daysSTEP 03
Machining · bonding
Tip bonding, rod grinding and block slot machining are carried out as drawn.
By agreement, depending on the production scheduleSTEP 04
Inspection · delivery
Dimensions and surface roughness are measured, and the part ships with a test report. Repeat orders to the same drawing skip the review stage.
By agreement, depending on the production scheduleMinimum quantity
From small quantities
Varies with geometry and composition.
Standard lead time
About 2 – 3 weeks
From drawing approval. A bonding stage adds to the period.
Supplied with it

HANDLING
Handling precautions
These apply to refractory metals in general. Service life depends heavily on how the parts are handled.
01
01
Do not touch the parts with bare hands after unpacking. Oil from fingerprints carbonizes at high temperature and becomes a contaminant.
02
02
The material is weak against impact and bending. Tungsten is brittle at room temperature and can crack if dropped.
03
03
Do not heat above 500°C in air; oxidation accelerates sharply. Always use the parts in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere.
04
04
Avoid rapid heating and cooling. On first use, we recommend pre-heating (aging) at low current.
05
05
Store indoors in a dry place and keep the moisture-barrier packaging intact.
If your installation or operating conditions are unusual, our engineers will review them in advance. Send a drawing or your process conditions and we will start by selecting the right material with you.
