Applied parts
Applied parts
Used as the evaporation source in vacuum coaters, the melting crucible in high-temperature furnaces and the vessel in crystal growth equipment. Material and shape are designed around what it will hold and at what temperature.

KEY FEATURES
Wire diameter and open area decide performance
The finer the weave, the better it blocks and the less passes through.
The combination of wire diameter and mesh count sets the open area and the strength.
High-temperature stability
High Temperature Stability
It holds its shape without sagging or breaking even inside a high-temperature vacuum furnace.
Open area design
Open Area
Wire diameter and mesh count are varied to balance throughput against shielding performance.
Cutting · forming
Cutting & Forming
Cut to the dimensions on the drawing and, where needed, formed over a tool.
Melting points by material
Melting point °C. The higher the figure, the better it holds its shape at high temperature.
Why open area
A shield blocks better the more it blocks, but gas has to escape for the vacuum to hold. We look at both together.
Edge finishing
The cut edge is folded or welded to reinforce it so it does not fray.

DESIGN PRECISION
The weave is set to the application
In mesh, wire diameter and mesh count are what distinguish the product.
In the same mesh, changing the wire diameter and mesh count changes the open area and the strength.
Strength design
Thicker is stronger and reduces the open area.
Open area
A finer weave shields more and passes less.
Material selection
Tungsten where the highest temperature is needed, molybdenum where machinability is.
We do not pick a specification, we develop it with you. (Give us the service temperature and the throughput conditions, and we will work out the weave with you.)

LEAD TIME
Fabrication and Lead Time
This product is made to your drawing. Here is the process, step by step.
STEP 01
Requirements received
Send us the wire diameter, mesh count, overall dimensions and service temperature.
Reply within 1 daySTEP 02
Specification review
We review the number of shielding layers and the edge reinforcement method and propose a wire diameter.
2 – 4 daysSTEP 03
Weaving · cutting
Woven to the required mesh, then cut and formed to the dimensions on the drawing.
By agreement, depending on the production scheduleSTEP 04
Inspection · delivery
Mesh count and dimensions are verified, and the part ships with a test report. Repeat orders to the same drawing skip the review stage.
By agreement, depending on the production scheduleMinimum quantity
From small quantities
Varies with wire diameter and dimensions.
Standard lead time
About 2 – 3 weeks
From drawing approval. Multi-layer construction adds process stages.
Supplied with it
Test report
Mesh count and dimensional measurements are sent with the delivery.

HANDLING
Handling precautions
These apply to refractory metals in general. Service life depends heavily on how the parts are handled.
01
01
Do not touch the parts with bare hands after unpacking. Oil from fingerprints carbonizes at high temperature and becomes a contaminant.
02
02
The material is weak against impact and bending. Tungsten is brittle at room temperature and can crack if dropped.
03
03
Do not heat above 500°C in air; oxidation accelerates sharply. Always use the parts in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere.
04
04
Avoid rapid heating and cooling. On first use, we recommend pre-heating (aging) at low current.
05
05
Store indoors in a dry place and keep the moisture-barrier packaging intact.
If your installation or operating conditions are unusual, our engineers will review them in advance. Send a drawing or your process conditions and we will start by selecting the right material with you.
