Applied parts
Applied parts
Used as the evaporation source in vacuum coaters, the melting crucible in high-temperature furnaces and the vessel in crystal growth equipment. Material and shape are designed around what it will hold and at what temperature.

KEY FEATURES
The cross-section sets the heating
The thinner and wider the section, the faster heat spreads.
The combination of thickness and width sets the resistance and the heating rate.
Fast heat-up
Fast Heat-Up
Its low thermal mass brings the temperature up in a short time. It suits deposition sources and small heating elements.
Thickness uniformity
Thickness Uniformity
Rolling and intermediate heat treatment reduce thickness variation. Where variation is large, the thin point breaks first.
Formability
Formability
Bending and folding produce boat and contact geometries. Stress is relieved before forming to prevent cracking.
Melting points by material
Melting point °C. The higher the figure, the higher the temperature it withstands.
Why thickness matters
At the same width, a thinner section raises the resistance, so it heats faster and lasts less long.
Cracking after bending
Bent with residual stress, it splits at the corners. Heat treatment relieves it before forming.

DESIGN PRECISION
The cross-section is set to the application
In ribbon, the combination of thickness and width is what distinguishes the product.
In the same ribbon, changing the thickness and width changes the resistance and the heating rate.
Thickness design
Thickness is set to the target resistance and the supply power.
Width cutting
Width is cut to the mounting specification.
Material selection
Tungsten where the highest temperature is needed, molybdenum where formability is.
We do not pick a specification, we develop it with you. (Give us the target temperature and the mounting specification, and we will work out the cross-section with you.)

LEAD TIME
Fabrication and Lead Time
This product is made to your drawing. Here is the process, step by step.
STEP 01
Drawing received
Send us the material, thickness, width and length and surface condition.
Reply within 1 daySTEP 02
Specification review
We review the thickness variation and width tolerance and propose a surface finish.
2 – 4 daysSTEP 03
Rolling · cutting
Rolled to the required thickness and slit to width and length.
By agreement, depending on the production scheduleSTEP 04
Inspection · delivery
Thickness and width are measured, and the part ships with a test report. Repeat orders to the same drawing skip the review stage.
By agreement, depending on the production scheduleMinimum quantity
From small quantities
Varies with thickness and width.
Standard lead time
About 2 – 3 weeks
From drawing approval. The thinner the material, the more rolling stages.
Supplied with it

HANDLING
Handling precautions
These apply to refractory metals in general. Service life depends heavily on how the parts are handled.
01
01
Do not touch the parts with bare hands after unpacking. Oil from fingerprints carbonizes at high temperature and becomes a contaminant.
02
02
The material is weak against impact and bending. Tungsten is brittle at room temperature and can crack if dropped.
03
03
Do not heat above 500°C in air; oxidation accelerates sharply. Always use the parts in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere.
04
04
Avoid rapid heating and cooling. On first use, we recommend pre-heating (aging) at low current.
05
05
Store indoors in a dry place and keep the moisture-barrier packaging intact.
If your installation or operating conditions are unusual, our engineers will review them in advance. Send a drawing or your process conditions and we will start by selecting the right material with you.
