KEY FEATURES

Putting large mass into a small space

Far heavier than lead at the same volume.

AlN Heater Cross-Section

Its high density puts the same mass into a smaller volume.

01

High density

High Density

17 – 18.5 g/cm³. It secures the mass and shielding needed even in a confined space.

02

Machinability

Machinability

Easier to machine than pure tungsten, so complex non-standard geometries are possible.

03

Non-toxic

Lead-Free

It replaces lead, reducing the handling and disposal burden.

Density by material

Tungsten heavy alloy18.5
Lead (Pb)11.3
Iron (Fe)7.9

Density g/cm³. The higher the figure, the heavier at the same volume.

Why heavy alloy

Pure tungsten is hard and difficult to machine. Heavy alloy keeps the density while being easy to machine.

Balance design

In a counterweight, the position of the center of gravity matters as much as the mass. Geometry is what sets it.

DESIGN PRECISION

Geometry set to the mass required

In shielding, density and geometry are what distinguish the product.

Product cross-section

At the same mass, changing the geometry and composition changes the volume and the center of gravity.

Densitychoice

Composition

Chosen between 17 and 18.5 g/cm³ together with machinability.

Drawingbasis

Machined geometry

We look at the mounting space and the center of gravity together.

Platingor paint

Surface treatment

Set by the corrosion and contamination conditions.

We do not pick a specification, we develop it with you. (Give us the required mass and the mounting space, and we will work out the geometry with you.)

LEAD TIME

Fabrication and Lead Time

This product is made to your drawing. Here is the process, step by step.

STEP 01

Requirements received

Send us the required mass or shielding performance and the installation space dimensions. If you have no drawing, the service conditions alone are enough to start.

Reply within 1 day

STEP 02

Specification review

We choose the density and composition, calculate the mass and thickness, and propose a machining method.

2 – 4 days

STEP 03

Sintering · machining

The heavy alloy is sintered, then machined to the dimensions on the drawing. Plating is carried out alongside if required.

By agreement, depending on the production schedule

STEP 04

Inspection · delivery

Mass and dimensions are measured, and the part ships with a test report. Repeat orders to the same drawing skip the review stage.

By agreement, depending on the production schedule

Minimum quantity

From 1 piece

Varies with mass and geometry.

Standard lead time

About 3 – 4 weeks

From drawing approval. Plating adds to the period.

Supplied with it

Test report

Mass and dimensional measurements are sent with the delivery.

HANDLING

Handling precautions

These apply to refractory metals in general. Service life depends heavily on how the parts are handled.

01

01

Do not touch the parts with bare hands after unpacking. Oil from fingerprints carbonizes at high temperature and becomes a contaminant.

02

02

The material is weak against impact and bending. Tungsten is brittle at room temperature and can crack if dropped.

03

03

Do not heat above 500°C in air; oxidation accelerates sharply. Always use the parts in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere.

04

04

Avoid rapid heating and cooling. On first use, we recommend pre-heating (aging) at low current.

05

05

Store indoors in a dry place and keep the moisture-barrier packaging intact.

If your installation or operating conditions are unusual, our engineers will review them in advance. Send a drawing or your process conditions and we will start by selecting the right material with you.
