WHY MOLYBDENUM

Why the geometry survives at high temperature

01
Creep resistance at 1600°C

Heating elements that go through repeated heating and cooling cycles do not sag. Form tolerances hold, so the temperature distribution holds with them.

02
Thermal expansion matched to ceramics

Its expansion coefficient is close to that of AlN and alumina, so interfacial stress stays low in embedded structures. This is the main reason molybdenum is used as the heating element in AlN heaters.

03
Half the weight of tungsten

At 10.2 g/cm³ it is about 53% of tungsten. For the same geometry the weight is halved, which helps in large heat-shield structures and moving parts.
